A Description of work
A.1 Description of work
A wooden house builder works predominantly in companies building wooden houses or in companies producing parts for wooden houses. Their main task is to build houses from wooden parts and/or modules produced either industrially or by hand.

- Wooden House Builder, Level 5

Wooden House Builder, Level 3 builds various wooden-frame houses (element houses, module houses, etc.) and log houses (machine-made or handmade log houses) on the basis of the task given. They also participate in other work as a member of a team, such as installing doors and windows and constructing roofs and floors.
A wooden house builder at this level works either as a member of a team or independently on a more specific task (e.g. storage of building materials) while bearing in mind detailed instructions and work environment and occupational safety requirements and assuming responsibility for the results of their work.
In the case of more complicated tasks, Wooden House Builder, Level 3 consults their line manager or supervisor.

A wooden house builder works both indoors and outdoors on a building site, including working at heights and in the working area of lifting equipment. The work environment may be noisy. Performance indicators:
1. Chooses and prepares the materials necessary for fulfilling their specific tasks. Stores them, thereby ensuring that the materials are protected against the elements and other factors that could damage them.
2. Chooses and prepares the tools necessary for fulfilling their specific tasks and ensures that they are in working order and safe to use.
3. Prepares their immediate work space. Stores the necessary materials, bearing in mind work environment and occupational safety requirements and those of maintaining and storing materials, and taking into account the task given (building site layout). Removes trash, items that do not belong in their immediate work space, etc.

B.2.2 Assembling wood joints 3

Performance indicators:
1. Assembles previously made mortice and tenons using power tools and hand tools. Is guided in their work by the construction project, the designated technologies and quality requirements.
2. Assembles nail, screw, bolt and pin joints, being guided by project documentation, the requirements of technology and quality and the instructional materials provided by the manufacturer.

1) wooden joints and technologies used for their assembly;
2) fields of application of wooden joints and their function in construction;
3) steel parts used in wooden joints;
4) quality requirements of wooden joints.
B.2.3 Making, assembling and installing wooden frames and frame elements 3

Performance indicators:
1. Makes component parts of wooden frame elements (including wall, roof and floor elements) in an industrial environment as well as on site based on the given task. Uses appropriate power tools and hand tools and follows quality requirements.
2. Assembles wall, roof and floor elements based on the given task, using rational work methods and appropriate tools. If necessary, consults the foreman or a more experienced colleague.
3. Constructs wooden frames of buildings based on the given task, using rational work methods and appropriate tools. If necessary, consults the foreman or a more experienced colleague.
4. Installs thermal and sound insulation and waterproofing materials as well as vapour barriers and windbreaks based on the given task, following all quality requirements and using rational work methods.
5. Installs building boards on the frame based on the given task, bearing in mind quality requirements and using rational work methods.
6. Installs the most common façade materials based on the given task, using rational work methods and appropriate tools.

4) principles of building and assembling wooden rack walls;

B.2.6 Installing doors and windows 3

Performance indicators:
1. Makes and installs temporary doors and windows based on the given task.
2. Installs, fastens and tightens windows and doors under supervision in accordance with quality requirements and the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer.

1) methods of installing thermal insulation and sealing materials;
2) means, tools and methods of fastening doors and windows.
B.2.7 Performing sling work 4

Performance indicators:
1. Hooks the necessary materials with lifting slings and guides the work of the crane operator using hand signals, thereby following occupational safety requirements. Stores materials in the designated place.
2. Operates the unmanned lifting device upon storing and moving materials, thereby following instructions and occupational safety requirements.

Knowledge:
1) load gripper machines;
2) specific nature of carrying out lifting operations depending on the lifting device;
3) safety requirements of sling work;
4) hand signals used in sling work.
B.2.8 Erection of log constructions 3

Performance indicators:
1. Installs and affixes log parts and sealing materials based on the given task, bearing in mind the specific nature of log buildings (settling, drying, etc.) and following the design project or installation instructions.
2. Assembles previously made conductor joints of logs based on the given task, following the installation manual and design project and ensuring wind resistance, heat retention and rigidity in splices.
3. Prepares materials for stiffening walls and installing parts that enable the tightening and settling of the structure and takes part in installation, fulfilling the responsibilities assigned to them.
4. Participates in installation and fastening work, fulfilling the responsibilities assigned to them.
5. Makes component parts of additional frames based on the given task and attaches them to the log structure, using appropriate fasteners and work methods.
6. Installs, fastens and tightens windows and doors under supervision in accordance with quality requirements and the installation instructions provided by the manufacturer, taking into account shrinkage of the log wall.
